MCCI to Open Four Primary Care Clinics in Florida for Humana Patients

Miami-based MCCI Medical Group is planning to open four primary care clinics in the Jacksonville, Fla., area this month to serve Humana patients, according to a Florida Times-Union report.

Humana is ending its Gold Plus contract with University of Florida primary care physicians on Aug. 31, forcing the approximately 7,200 Gold Plus HMO members to find new physicians. Although other area medical offices will continue to accept Gold Plus patients, they cannot accommodate everyone.

MCCI will open three clinics in Jacksonville and one in Callahan, Fla. The clinics, which will specialize in treating seniors, will accept a variety of Medicare, Medicaid and employer-based insurance plans, but only Humana's Medicare HMO plan.
