Patient charged with starting fire in her room at Buffalo hospital

A patient at Buffalo, N.Y.-based Sisters of Charity Hospital was charged Jun 19 with starting a fire in a garbage can in her room, according to The Buffalo News.

The fire is estimated to have cost $600 worth of damage. Patients in nearby rooms were not harmed, though they were moved to other rooms. Care services were not affected by the fire, hospital officials said.

Sharon Mielonen, 55, has been charged with reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and arson.
