Hospitals and unions: 4 recent conflicts, agreements

Becker's Hospital Review reported the following hospital-union events on or after June 25.

1. Unionized nurses at Boston-based Brigham and Women's Hospital ratified a new contract with the hospital after several months of negotiations.

2. The nurses' union at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center wants federal involvement after the academic hospital fired a union representative and disciplined another over a Facebook Live video updating members on negotiations.

3. Nurses at St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio, approved a contract July 2 between Mercy Health and the union representing them.

4. Hundreds of nurses from Long Beach (Calif.) Medical Center and Miller Children's and Women's Hospital Long Beach picketed over staffing and pay.
