Elizabeth Seton, union reach contract: 4 things to know

Registered nurses and respiratory therapists at Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center in Yonkers, N.Y., represented by the 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East union, have reached a tentative contract agreement with hospital management, according to The Journal News.

Here are four things to know about the contract.

1. The contract was reached Dec. 8, in time to avoid a planned informational picket scheduled for Dec. 9. The workers were picketing to protest protracted labor contract negotiations.

2. It can't take effect until it is ratified by union members next week.

3. Details of the agreement will not be disclosed until after the final ratification, the union said.

4. This would be the workers' first collective bargaining agreement.
