Springfield, Mass.-based Baystate Health has abandoned its plan to build a behavioral health hospital with US HealthVest after reports of substandard care surfaced at some of the for-profit company's facilities, according to Mass Live.
In late August, Baystate announced it was reviewing its partnership with HealthVest after a Seattle Times investigation found the company routinely "failed vulnerable patients."
The report detailed instances of patient neglect, dangerous staffing levels and fraudulent documentation of care, according to the Daily Hampshire Gazette.
On Nov. 7, Baystate announced it ended the agreement.
Baystate said it is searching for a new partner to build the standalone, consolidated behavioral health hospital in Holyoke, Mass.
