Earlier this fall, Mercy Hospital said it was seeking a potential health partner to bring improved resources and greater stability to the organization.

Mercy Hospital’s board of directors voted to approve the affiliation with Essentia Oct. 28, citing its strongly aligned mission and values.

“A partnership with Essentia is a great fit for our hospital and the communities we serve,” said Mercy CEO Mike Youso. “Essentia is committing to provide more services, close to home for our patients and to explore new opportunities like telehealth.”

If the agreement is finalized, it is expected to end the local tax levy that is currently used to support the hospital.
