Virginia's Sentara Princess Anne Hospital Officially Opens Today

Sentara Princess Anne Hospital in Virginia Beach, Va., is officially open today, according to a Virginian-Pilot report.

Sentara Princess Anne's opening marks the closure of service lines and departments at other area Sentara hospitals. According to the report, Sentara Bayside Hospital will close its inpatient services but continue its emergency and a few other services under the name Sentara Independence. Similarly, Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital will transfer its neonatal specialty nursery and obstetrics unit to Princess Anne, according to the report.

Nearly 650 total employees from Bayside and Virginia Beach General will be transferred to Princess Anne, which is a joint venture between Sentara Healthcare and Bon Secours Hampton Roads Health System.
