House lawmakers look to collect data on Medicare opioid addiction

Members of the House Ways and Means Committee are pressing multiple healthcare industry players to submit information on how to curb opioid abuse among Medicare enrollees, according to The Hill.

The committee is requesting information on overprescribing, data tracking, treatment, communication and education from insurers, benefit managers and providers.

The bipartisan group of legislators sent its request Tuesday, with a March 15 deadline, in the hopes of crafting legislation that will reduce the risk of Medicare opioid abuse.
