CMS to Host Forum on Value-Based Purchasing Program

CMS will host a special open door forum on its FY 2013 Hospital Value-Based Purchasing Program on Wed., July 27, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. EST.

The program, which will increase payments to high-quality hospitals while withholding payments from under-performing ones, will use performance data beginning July 1, 2011, meaning current hospital performance will impact future payments.

Attendees of the open door forum will learn:

  • Which hospitals are eligible for the FY 2013 program;
  • Critical dates and milestones of the program;
  • The Clinical Process of Care measures and Patient Experience of Care dimensions that will be used to evaluate hospitals for the FY 2013 value-based incentive payment;
  • How CMS will calculate each hospital's total performance score for the FY 2013 Program, including the difference between achievement and improvement points for each measure and weighting of the domain scores;
  • How consistency points will be calculated as part of the Patient Experience of Care domain score; and
  • How the linear exchange function will be used to translate Total Performance Scores into a value-based incentive payment.
To participate in the conference call, dial: 1-800-837-1935 Conference ID 79533903.
