CEOs across the board predict volatility in 2022

As leaders look to prepare for 2022, they discussed some of the challenges the year may hold at the CNBC Leadership Exchange, and volatility came up as a common theme, CNBC reported Dec. 2.

Shane Grant, the CEO of food and beverage company Danone North America, said he expects a bumpy ride for the year ahead.

"There's enormous volatility in our supply chain. It's everything from input availability, capacity, transportation, labor; it's COVID adaptations by ways of working adaptation," he told CNBC.

Mike Parra, CEO of global logistics company Deutsche Post DHL Group,  emphasized that new waves of lockdowns across Europe and travel restrictions indicate that companies will have to enter the unknown yet again.

Cano Health CEO Marlow Hernandez, MD, said that the omicron coronavirus variant has intensified some of his concerns.

"I'm concerned for all my patients. I'm particularly concerned about the underserved," he said.

Mr. Grant also predicted that the war for talent sparked by the "Great Resignation" will only escalate next year.

"It's about game-changing people policies, like gender-neutral parental leave, for not only corporate workers, but front-line workers. It's about institutionalized flexibility. It's about true commitment to diversity actions. And I think those things are going to become true differentiators in this war for talent in 2022," he said.
