Question: What is going on right now?

Jeffrey Thompson: The usual mix of chaos and progress....too much short term thinking...many thinking size or power will win the day when it will be quality and innovation that will win.

Q: If you acquired $10 million dollars with no strings attached today, how would you invest or spend it?

JT: Free leadership program aimed at the next generation leaders on how to rise up in the face of a ragged system.

Q: What is one convention, tradition or habit that healthcare has adopted and left unquestioned that you feel either needs to stop or undergo thoughtful scrutiny? Why?

JT: That we are doing OK....we are not.....we are spending too much of the community resources and we have too many mistakes on acute care and not enough focus on Health....not just healthcare. Because of inertia, lack of courage and selfishness

Q: We are all pressed for time and attention. Help us sift through the meaningless and the meaningful by sharing the last thing you read, heard or did that shifted your mindset and really made a difference in your personal or professional life.

JT: Half of all antibiotics used in the world are for pigs in China...while 150,000 in the US and 700,000+ in the world die of resistant bacteria. We need to re-think how we are all connected, our food choices, our communication with each other, and how the world health is connected via antibiotics, climate, refugee movement, tourists, food transportation...etc
