23 Hospital Specialty Centers Under Construction or Completed

The following hospitals are constructing or have completed new specialty centers in areas such as oncology, cardiology and imaging. The list begins with the most recent news.  

1. Capital Medical Center in Olympia, Wash., opened a $5.5 million medical center that includes the Capital Imaging Center and Outpatient Clinic and an advanced wound-care therapy center.

2. Greenville, S.C.-based Bon Secours St. Francis Health System opened the approximately $3 million Pearlie Harris Center for Breast Health.

3. INTEGRIS Baptist Regional Health Center in Miami, Okla., broke ground on its $1.4 million cardiac catheterization lab.

4. Columbia Memorial Hospital in Astoria, Ore., and Oregon Health & Science University opened the CMH/OHSU Cancer Care Center.

5. Louisville, Ky.-based Jewish Hospital & St. Mary's HealthCare opened the Owsley Brown Frazier Cancer Center Bullitt County Clinic.

6. Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, is opening its new medical imaging interventional center.

7. St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, Mass., broke ground on a new $30 million cancer treatment center.

8. Temple University Health System in Philadelphia and Temple University School of Medicine opened a lung and orthopedic outpatient office in Oaks, Pa.

9. Shenandoah Memorial Hospital in Woodstock, Va., is nearing completion of the Shenandoah Diagnostic Center after roughly two years of design and construction.

10. Summerlin Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas opened its new $750,000 Breast Care Center.

11. White County Medical Center in Searcy, Ark., opened its Cancer Center of Excellence.

12. Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, S.C., completed its new hospital wing that consolidates the majority of its cardiac services.

13. Kentucky Children's Hospital, part of Lexington-based UK HealthCare, opened the new Congenital Heart Clinic.

14. Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston is planning to create a new, approximately $20 million comprehensive cancer center in Needham, Mass.

15. Gwinnett Medical Center – Lawrenceville (Ga.) opened the Gwinnett Breast Center, which includes the Marion Allison Webb Center for Screening Mammography and the Sandra J. Strickland Diagnostic Center.

16. Augusta Health in Fishersville, Va., broke ground on its new $30.6 million Heart and Vascular Center.

17. Miami Valley Hospital South in Centerville, Ohio, broke ground on a $20 million construction project that will include a cancer center and physician offices.

18. University of Pittsburgh Medical Center St. Margaret opened the Magee-Womens Imaging Center.

19. Stony Brook (N.Y.) University Medical Center opened a new Valve Center within its Heart Center to treat valvular heart disease.

20. Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Neb., completed a $3.2 million renovation to create an orthopedic-neurological unit.

21. NYU Langone Medical Center in New York City opened the Joan H. Tisch Center for Women's Health.

22. Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis, Ore., plans to begin construction on the Samaritan Women's Imaging Center, projected to cost $2.5 million, in May.

23. Mon General Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va., opened the new Zelda Stein Weiss Cancer Center.
