Sanford names First Premier Bank CEO to board

Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Sanford Health has elected Dana Dykhouse, CEO of Sioux Falls-based First Premier Bank, to its board of trustees.

Mr. Dykhouse will be part of a 12-member board of trustees, and will supervise governance for the health system while providing financial, operational performance, and strategic direction oversight, according to a Dec. 28 Sanford Health press release.

Mr. Dykhouse started at First Premier Bank in 1995, with the bank's assets increasing from $250 million to over $3 billion under his leadership. 

He is the chairman for the Build Dakota Scholarship Fund and South Dakota Technical Education Board. Mr. Dykhouse also serves on the board for the Freedom Scholarship, Northwest Energy and the South Dakota Chamber of Commerce.

"Dana has been a trusted advocate and champion of health care for many years, and I want to welcome him to our Board of Trustees. Our health system’s future will be stronger because of his involvement and his passion for enhancing the quality of life for our communities," Bill Gassen, president and CEO of Sanford Health, said in the release.

The health system's trustees can serve up to three three-year terms, and are elected by the full board. Mr. Dykhouse's term begins Jan. 1.
