MetroHealth Recommends Interim CEO, Board to Vote Next Week

The sub-committee of Cleveland-based MetroHealth System's CEO search committee has recommended COO Edward Hills, DDS, to serve as interim CEO as the system continues its search for a permanent leader.

Dr. Hills has been with MetroHealth for about 20 years and has served as the system's COO since 2010.

The system's board of trustees is expected to vote on the recommendation next week.

MetroHealth's current CEO, Mark Moran, announced his resignation in 2011. The system then named John Brennan, MD, as Mr. Moran's replacement. However, at the end of November, Dr. Brennan backed out of his appointment to remain CEO of Newark (N.J) Beth Israel Medical Center, leaving MetroHealth without a replacement.
