6 CFO exits in 2024

Multiple hospital and health system CFOs have left or announced plans to leave their roles since the beginning of 2024.

Here are six CFO exits Becker's has reported on this year:

1. Johnson, Tenn.-based Ballad Health CFO Lynn Krutak will retire June 30. Shane Hilton has been hired as CFO, effective immediately. Ms. Krutak and Mr. Hilton will work together to ensure a smooth transition prior to her June exit.

2. Debbie Bloomfield, PhD, is retiring as CFO of Cincinnati-based Bon Secours Mercy Health at the end of 2024 after more than three decades with the health system. Dr. Bloomfield will begin transitioning from her CFO role on July 1 and shift to other financial leadership oversights at the health system until her retirement. Travis Crum, BSMH's current senior vice president of finance, will take over as CFO on July 1.

3. Michael Szubski retired Jan. 31 after more than 15 years as CFO at Cleveland-based University Hospitals. Bradley Bond has stepped into the CFO role for the health system.

4. Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare CFO Bill Rutherford is retiring after more than  10 years in the role. Mike Marks, HCA's senior vice president of finance, will assume the role of executive vice president and CFO on May 1. 

5. Sid Sczygelski retired as CFO of Wausau, Wis.-based Aspirus. Jerry Yang assumed the role of CFO for the health system in January, according to his LinkedIn page.

6. Ric Magnuson is leaving his CFO role at Minneapolis-based Allina Health in April after 25 cumulative years with the health system.
