Walmart, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud & more: Blockchain updates from 5 companies

Five recent updates on how large technology and healthcare companies are using blockchain.

1. Amazon Web Services released the Quantum Ledger Database, a fully managed database. The blockchain was developed so other organizations wouldn't have to build their own decentralized ledger.

2. IBM filed a new patent application for a blockchain-based web browser. A peer-to-peer network would back the browser, which would store information including bookmarks, task performance, geolocation, plugin installation and security patches.

3. Walmart revealed three blockchain projects which aim to track: food supplies across the world, track drug distribution and encrypted communication between drone devices.

4. Google Cloud entered into a partnership with Cypherium, an enterprise-focused blockchain platform that will allow Google Cloud users to access its blockchain solutions that could support thousands of transactions per second.

5. Microsoft is using blockchain to advance artificial intelligence and machine learning accessibility. The company is using blockchain to provide a cost-effective way of running machine learning models with existing technology.
