Target rolls out in-store mHealth pilot program

By May, about a third of Target stores will feature Connected Care sections, stations that feature a variety of medical-grade tools and products for customers to use, according to a report from Twice.

The stations will be curated by Qardio, a medical device vendor that develops wireless and 'smart' tools like scales and blood pressure monitors. Connected Care will be outfitted with Qardio devices as well as devices from other vendors. Target says customers will be able to use smartphones with Connected Care to track wellness information.

"We're constantly looking for opportunities to evolve our assortment and shopping experience to meet the changing needs of our guests," a Target spokeswoman told Twice. "We know our guests are increasingly interested in these types of products, and [we] will evaluate future growth plans based on their feedback and sales results."
