Patagonia Health to co-design EHR charting system for Colorado health department

The Tri-County Health Department of Colorado has joined forces with Patagonia Health, an EHR software vendor, to co-design a charting system to implement in the department's EHR.

Patagonia Health, based in Cary, N.C., will assist in developing a charting platform integrated into the Omaha System, a practice and documentation standardized classification used to describe episodes of care. The Omaha System has been used since 1975 and is widely accepted as the standard for information management and documentation by the American Nurses Association.

The Tri-County Health Department launched this project to develop a new charting platform for its EHR, as the department did not feel its system was designed to accommodate the Omaha System's attributes. Now, Patagonia Health will develop a module for the department's EHR that integrates the Omaha System within the EHR.

"I am very excited about Patagonia Health developing the module specifically to include the Omaha System functionality," said Alix Hopkins, nurse manager at Tri-County Health Department.
