Nebraska Medicine earns HIMSS Stage 7 following $87M Epic rollout

Nebraska Medicine, based in Omaha, spent $87 million in 2012 to implement the Epic EHR, according to a Healthcare IT News report. Now, the health system has achieved Stage 7 of the HIMSS EMR Adoption Model. 

Nebraska Medicine includes the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Bellevue (Neb.) Medical Center and UNMC Physicians, based in Omaha.

Michael Ash, MD, leads the health system's IT initiatives as chief transformation officer, according to the report.

The health system's hospitals are now a part of the 4.1 percent of hospitals across the country to achieve Stage 7, according to the report.
