Construction on Cerner's new Trails Campus in Kansas City, Mo., is underway, and the Kansas City Tax Increment Financing Commission has given final approval to reimburse the health IT vendor for part of the project's costs, according to The Kansas City Star.
Through the agreement, Cerner will be reimbursed $1.75 billion of the total $4.45 billion price. The public assistance will come from Tax Increment Financing revenue, super TIF revenue and state supplemental TIF revenue.
The campus will include approximately 4.7 million square feet of office space and bring 16,000 jobs to the area. The first of the campus's two towers was completed in March.
