EDIMS Receives ONC-ATCB 2011/2012 Certification and 2011 Pre-Market Certification for Emergency Department EHRs

EDIMS, a Livingston, N.J.-based provider of interoperable emergency department information systems for hospitals, has received pre-market certification as an emergency department electronic health record system and full certification as an EHR module by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology, according to a company news release.

Pre-market certification is issued until live site verification is complete. Applicants in the CCHIT Certified Program must submit at least two reference sites that have been using the product for at least 45 days and are using certain key functionalities. Once these sites have been verified by the CCHIT Certified Program, applicants can received fully certified status.

"We have found that hospitals are now seeking out a certified emergency department EHR solution to help their facilities meet the requirements outlined in the final rules for meaningful use, and we are thrilled that we can now provide this to our clients," said Shane Hade, CEO of EDIMS.

CCHIT is an authorized testing and certification body, selected by the Office of the National Coordinator to test and certify EHR products for compliance with standards and certification criteria set by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services earlier this year. Certification by ONC-ATCBs ensures EHR products will support healthcare providers' goal of achieving meaningful use.
