Vocera, a clinical communication and workflow solutions provider, launched a new smartphone application that can sort through and prioritize patient-centric calls, secure messages and alerts in a single inbox for physicians.

Dubbed Vocera Vina, the app provides context about clinical events, patient status and clinician availability to care teams. Patient information, including vital signs and lab values, can automatically be attached to a message or incoming call notification through the app.

Care teams that use Vina will be able to access the full history of calls, messages, alerts and alarms pertaining to a patient or event within a single conversational thread.

"Vocera Vina has the essential functionality needed to move all our clinicians to one platform for all clinical communication and collaboration, which will help them connect with the right people, make informed decisions, prioritize actions and respond rapidly to emerging situations," said David Augsburger, clinical informatics director at Major Health Partners in Shelbyville, Ind., according to a news release emailed to Becker's Hospital Review.
