Georgia health system to open on-site medical center at electric vehicle plant

Savannah, Ga.-based St. Joseph's/Candler Health System will open a 7,700 square-foot medical center inside the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America EV Plant in Ellabell, Ga., next year.

St. Joseph’s/Candler medical professionals already operate a temporary clinic at the work site, according to a July 10 news release from the health system. The permanent facility is scheduled to open in May 2024.

The medical center will be a full-service clinic for the plant's employees, according to the release. Among other things, the center will provide primary care services, occupational health services, work injury care services, chronic disease management and injury prevention and wellness management.

The health system has hired a full-time, on-site medical director for the center who will be supported by a full-time staff of nurse practitioners, medical assistants, nurses, physical therapists and athletic trainers, according to the release.
