18 of the largest recent deals

Eight of the 18 largest mergers and acquisitions recently announced or closed are in the food sector, according to CNN Money.

Here are 18 of the biggest deals, organized by industry.

Retail

1. Grocery chain Albertsons plans to buy the rest of Rite Aid that is not being sold to Walgreens Boots Alliance.

2. Coach bought Kate Spade to draw in more millennials, according to the report.

3. Michael Kors acquired British shoe company Jimmy Choo.

4. Walmart picked up e-commerce clothing brand Bonobos, CNN reports.

Tech 

5. Broadcom is trying to buy Qualcomm, despite multiple rejections.

Healthcare

6. CVS Health inked an agreement to buy health insurer Aetna for $69 billion.

Food

7. Amazon acquired Whole Foods.

8. Arby's parent company Roark Capital purchased Buffalo Wild Wings, according to the report.  

9. Burger King's umbrella company Restaurant Brands bought Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen.

10. Campbell Soup put out a bid for Snyder's-Lance, which makes Snyder's of Hanover pretzels, CNN reports.

11. The parent organization of Olive Garden, Darden Restaurants, acquired Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen.

12. Keurig Green Mountain will merge with Dr Pepper Snapple Group in a transaction worth more than $21 billion.

13. George Clooney sold his tequila company Casamigos to Diageo, which owns Johnnie Walker and Smirnoff, according to the report.

14. Hershey is buying Amplify Snack Brands, which makes SkinnyPop popcorn.

Media

15. Yahoo and AOL teamed up to become one company: Oath.

16. Disney is trying to buy part of 21st Century Fox.

17. Meredith, which publishes Parents, Shape and Better Homes & Gardens magazines, is purchasing Time.

18. Sinclair is attempting to buy Tribune, should the deal pass Federal Communications Commission scrutiny.
