Pfizer urged to 'permanently roll back prices'

Six days after Pfizer announced it would postpone  price hikes, Sen. Tammy Baldwin, D-Wis., sent a letter to the company's CEO Ian Read calling on the pharmaceutical manufacturer to institute permanent price rollbacks, according to The Hill.

Pfizer postponed the price increases after criticism from President Donald Trump. But the increases are delayed only until next year,  and there are no plans to change how Pfizer prices drugs.

"Your apparent agreement with President Trump is exactly why we need transparency and accountability. I call on you to make these price reductions permanent and to reduce prices on other medications that have increased," Ms. Baldwin wrote.

Ms. Baldwin called on Pfizer executives to consider ending its stock buyback program and use profits and corporate tax cut revenue to cut  drug prices. he company also was asked to explain why the price of some products were raised in the first place.
