Finish Line in Sight for Pocono Medical Center's $31.5M Cancer Center in Pennsylvania

Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg, Pa., is scheduled to complete a $31.5 million cancer center early this summer, according to a Pocono Record report.

The 59,000-square-foot Dale and Frances Hughes Cancer Center is more than eight times the size of the current cancer center and will more than double its current patient capacity, according to the report. The new center will include two linear accelerators, a CT scan simulator and PET-CT machine. In addition, the facility will feature a cancer boutique, demonstration kitchen and other amenities.

Eighty percent of the building will be immediately used, with the remaining 20 percent reserved for future needs. Cancer is expected to grow at annual rate of 4 percent for the next 10 years in the surrounding community.
