Corvallis, Ore.-based Samaritan Health Services appointed Bruce Butler CEO of Samaritan Health Plans, its insurance division, effective in late July.
Mr. Butler most recently served as CEO of Valley Health Plans in San Jose, Calif. He has held leadership roles at Presbyterian Health Plan in Albuquerque, N.M., and the University of California's Division of Health Sciences and Services in Oakland.
Mr. Butler succeeds the insurance arm's founding CEO Kelley Kaiser, who was named Samaritan Health Services' chief administrative officer in October 2018. Ms. Kaiser has been serving in a dual role and will continue to do so until Mr. Butler joins the organization.
Samaritan Health Plans operates the region's coordinated care organization, IHN-CCO, and a Medicare Advantage plan.
