New York City-based Montefiore Medicine has selected Michael deCastro Cabana, MD, to serve as physician-in-chief at Children's Hospital at Montefiore, effective Sept. 9.
Four points:
1. Dr. Cabana will also become a professor and the Michael I. Cohen, M.D., university chair of pediatrics at Montefiore Medicine.
2. He is a professor of pediatrics, epidemiology and biostatistics and chief of the general pediatrics division at the University of California-San Francisco.
3. He has held leadership positions with the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Academic Pediatric Association, and he is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Pediatrics.
4. Dr. Cabana was a principal investigator for the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute's AsthmaNet Clinical Trials network.
