Regenstrief Institute, MDClone partner to enhance data sharing for research

Regenstrief Institute in Indianapolis and MDClone, a healthcare data-leveraging firm, entered into a partnership to encourage wider and quicker access to data for research purposes.

MDClone will offer Regenstrief Institute access to its big data platform that creates synthetic data sets based on original data of interest. The synthetic data provides the same information as the original data but does so without providing specific patient data, thus protecting patient privacy.

Regenstrief Institute will use the platform to enable secure data sharing between research partners. In the future the partnership will work on data-driven initiatives with Indiana University School of Medicine, Indiana University Health, Eskenazi Health and the Indiana Health Information Exchange, all based in Indianapolis.

"This partnership will enhance Regenstrief's efforts to accelerate research and innovation by significantly shortening the time to deliver research-ready, privacy-preserving synthetic data, thereby enabling new discoveries, improving quality and reducing costs," said Peter Embi, MD, president and CEO of the Regenstrief Institute.
