UPMC Wants Supreme Court to Review West Penn's Antitrust Lawsuit

The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to review an appellate court ruling in an antitrust lawsuit filed by Pittsburgh-based West Penn Allegheny Health System, according to a Pittsburgh Post-Gazette report.

WPAHS claims UPMC and insurer Highmark colluded to stifle competition in health treatment and insurance. The 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals sent the case to Judge Arthur J. Schwab for review, but UPMC wants the nation's highest court to address the decision.
