Parkland Memorial in Dallas Receives Corrective Action Plan From Consulting Group

Parkland Health & Hospital System's board of managers and senior leadership received a system-wide corrective action plan from consulting firm Alvarez & Marsal.

Under a systems improvement agreement with CMS, the hospital agreed to partner with Alvarez & Marsal to help remedy the hospital's deficiencies, which included infection control issues. Last month, the firm created a gap analysis, outlining specific shortfalls related to quality and patient safety. The hospital has not made that analysis public.

Now the consulting firm has submitted to the hospital a corrective action plan, which will also be kept confidential "to protect the legal and privacy rights of patients and the institution as a whole." According to the news release, the plan includes nursing reorganization, a mock survey team who will monitor the implementation of all improvement plans and enhanced leadership oversight to assure the sustainability of the plans.

Parkland Memorial said it would provide monthly monitoring reports to the public as it tracks its progress toward full compliance with CMS and state requirements.
