The Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene has announced that it is collaborating with Medscape, a web information service for healthcare providers, to distribute critical health alerts to providers in Maryland.
The collaboration will build upon the department's ability to notify healthcare providers when there is critical health information, such as infectious disease outbreak or environmental and product safety advisories. When the department has such information, it will provide the information in the form of an alert to Medscape, which will then send the information via email to all of its registered users located in Maryland.
All information distributed through Medscape will also be made available on the department's website.
