What success will look like for CHA Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in 2020

Jason Williams, CIO of CHA Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles, discusses the hospital’s big initiatives and anticipated headwinds for next year.

Question: If 2020 is a successful year for you, what will it look like?

Jason Williams: Our vision for 2020 is to successfully implement new IT systems including EHR capabilities, and to enhance operational efficiencies with a centralized communication system for clinical teams to enhance the patient experience.

Q: Where will you focus most of your time and energy next year?

JW: My focus will be primarily on the stabilization and optimization of our IT and EHR systems, and on the adoption and operation of systems that are geared towards patients.

Q: What do you consider the biggest potential threat to your organization?

JW: New adventures can be daunting for all of us and one challenge will be getting everyone to adopt and learn new systems. We are ready to tackle the challenge with education so that our clinical force has a smooth onboarding to adopt quickly to positively impact patient experience.

Q: What is the most interesting initiative you have planned for 2020 that will affect the patient experience?

JW: Two of our most exciting patient-focused initiatives are to roll-out webcams for pre and post-procedure to allow patients to contact their long-distance family members and to launch a centralized IT communication hub for clinical teams to manage communication for patient care and services.
