Survey: 26% of CIOs Say Their Organizations Have Qualified for Stimulus Funding

A survey (pdf) of hospital CIOs found that 26 percent of CIOs' organizations have qualified to receive stimulus funding under the HITECH portion of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act within the first full year of the program, according to a College of Healthcare Information Management Executives news release.

The survey, conducted in September, also found that 13 percent of respondents' organizations have actually received funding, with most organizations receiving funds from their states' Medicaid programs. Furthermore, 68 percent of respondents expect to qualify for stimulus funding for Stage 1 of the program by federal fiscal year 2012, up from 58 percent in CHIME's March 2011 survey.
