The Davies Award recognizes outstanding achievement in implementing and deriving value from health IT, such as EHRs. Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh is recognized for its work to lower medication errors white improving on-time medication delivery, decrease adverse medication safety events by 60 percent over a six-year period, halving central line-associated blood stream infections rates per 1,000 patients and virtually eliminating breast milk-labeling errors, among other achievements.

“This award recognizes the enhancements we have made to Children’s health informatics program and the tremendous impact these technological advances have made on care provided to our patients and families,” Harun Rashid, vice president of global health services and CIO of Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, said in a statement.

The hospital will be officially recognized at the 2016 HIMSS Conference & Exhibition Feb. 29 through March 4 in Las Vegas.
