Hospital websites in the future: 5 predictions

In a recent Wall Street Journal piece, Leah Binder, president and CEO of Leapfrog Group, gave her predictions on what hospital websites will look like in 10 years.

Here are five of her predictions:

1. Through Twitter, patients will be able to post their immediate perspectives, and that feedback will instantly be indexed on the hospital website according to the patient's condition and the clinicians involved in the care.

2. Whether the ratings are negative or positive, each hospital will prominently post their hospital safety score letter grade and other ratings on their home page.

3. Patients will have the ability to scan their fingerprint to privately access their medical record on the hospital website.

4. Patients will immediately be able to use the hospital website to obtain a video consultation with a clinician, a physician, pharmacist, nurse or other professional.

5. Patients will be able to use hospital websites to gain instant access to experts at both the hospital and community pharmacies.
