CMS to Clarify Meaningful Use Final Rule

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services will be publishing clarifications to the meaningful use final rule and guidance for healthcare providers on how to meet quality measures mandated by the incentive program, according to a Government Health IT news report.

At an Oct. 20 meeting, a CMS official said the federal agency has clarified inconsistencies found in the final rule and written guidance on meeting quality measures. Both notices are in the last stage of the clearance process before publication. CMS has also answered more than 100 frequently asked questions about meaningful use on its website and is working with the Office of the National Coordinator to make a presentation on meaningful use for the public, according to the report.
