HIMSS Analytics recognized Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center in Norfolk, Va., for its progress with EMRs by awarding the hospital the HIMSS Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model Stage 7 award.
Stage 7 of the EMRAM indicates the hospital operates in an advanced patient record environment.
As of the second quarter of 2015, just 3.7 percent of hospitals in the United States have achieved Stage 7.
"Reaching Stage 7 is an affirmation of Bon Secours DePaul's commitment to patient safety and providing exceptional care to our patients," said Raymond McCue, MD, CMO of Bon Secours DePaul. "Not only have we implemented the most advanced levels of information technology available, we have demonstrated that the effective use of this technology improves the quality of care that is delivered."
