The following 48 hospital and health system CEO moves were announced or made this month. They are listed below, beginning with the most recent.

1. Gallipolis, Ohio-based Holzer Health System named Christopher T. Meyer, DO, CEO and chairman of the board of governors, effective Jan. 1.

2. Vince DiFranco, MHA, CEO of Community Hospital in Torrington, Wyo., resigned to become CEO of Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis, N.M. Mr. DiFranco will depart from Community Hospital Feb. 5.

3. Hammond-Henry Hospital in Geneseo, Ill., appointed Florence Spyrow, MHA, JD, interim CEO.

4. Colorado Plains Medical Center in Fort Morgan, part of Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Hospitals, named Gene O'Hara, PhD, MHA, CEO, effective Jan. 5.

5. South Central Kansas Medical Center in Arkansas City, Kan., named Virgil Watson Jr., MPHA, CEO, effective in January.

6. Madison, Wis.-based Meriter-UnityPoint Health, part of Des Moines, Iowa-based UnityPoint Health, appointed Arthur Nizza, DSW, president and CEO, effective Feb. 16, 2015.

7. Detroit Medical Center Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital in Commerce Township, Mich., promoted its COO, Karen Fordham, MBA, to CEO, effective Jan. 1.

8. St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, La., part of Baton Rouge, La.-based Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System, named Kristin Wolkart president and CEO.

9. Brent A. Marsteller, president and CEO of Cabell Huntington (W.Va.) Hospital, announced his retirement, effective Dec. 31.

10. Nyack (N.Y.) Hospital named Mark Geller, MD, interim CEO.

11. Jim Shmerling, PhD, MS, MBA, CEO of Children's Hospital Colorado Health System and Children's Hospital Colorado in Aurora, stepped down from his role as hospital CEO, but will remain at the helm of the health system.

12. Chris Jenkins, MHA, was named president and CEO of Florida Hospital Physician Group in Tampa, Fla.

13. Nabil El Sanadi, MD, stepped into his role as president and CEO of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Broward Health after signing his contract Dec. 17.

14. Mark Shugarman, president and CEO of Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany, Ind., resigned to take a new position at Shriner's Hospital for Children in Cincinnati.

15. Barry Keel, CEO of Bay Medical Center Sacred Heart Health System in Panama City, Fla., will step down from his role in January.

16. Regional Medical Center in Anniston, Ala., promoted its CFO, Louis Bass, CPA, to CEO.

17. Richard Cordova, president and CEO of Children's Hospital Los Angeles, announced his plans to retire.

18. Lucinda Bradley, MHA, was named interim CEO at Taos (N.M.) Health Systems.

19. Cape Girardeau, Mo.-based SoutheastHEALTH system named Kenneth W. Bateman as president and CEO.

20. Tim Stover, MD, president and CEO of Akron (Ohio) General Health System, will remain at the helm of the organization through 2017.

21. Chad M. Grant was appointed president and CEO of McLaren Oakland in Pontiac, Mich., a subsidiary of Flint, Mich.-based McLaren Health Care.

22. Wayne Allen, who has been serving as interim CEO and CFO of Mendocino Coast District Hospital in Fort Bragg, Calif., for the last three years, retired. James Sato and Steve Miller will become interim CEO and CFO, respectively.

23. Edward J. Kelly, president of Milford (Mass.) Regional Medical Center, will add CEO to his title Jan 1, 2016.

24. Great Plains Health in North Platte, Neb., appointed Mel McNea, MHA, as CEO.

25. Elbert Memorial Hospital in Elberton, Ga., appointed Brandon Clary as CEO beginning Jan. 5, 2015.

26. Bridgeport, W.V.-based United Hospital Center named its current COO, Michael Tillman, as the hospital's new CEO, effective April 4, 2015.

27. Palos Community Hospital in Palos Heights, Ill., named Terrence Moisan, MD, as CEO. Dr. Moisan has been serving as interim CEO since February following the abrupt resignation of CEO Edgardo Tenreiro.

28. UConn Health named Anne Diamond, JD, as CEO of John Dempsey Hospital. Ms. Diamond has been serving as interim CEO since August 2013.

29. Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala, Fla., named Bob Moore CEO.

30. Ohio State University named Sheldon Retchin, MD, MSPH, executive vice president of health sciences and CEO of OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, effective March 2, 2015.

31. Brad Solberg, MHA, CEO of Hammond-Henry Hospital in Geneseo, Ill., resigned to accept the position of president of OSF St. James Medical Center in Pontiac, Ill., effective Jan. 1, 2015.

32. Randy Simmons was named interim CEO of Bear Valley Community Hospital in Big Bear Lake, Calif.

33. University Medical Center in Las Vegas appointed the hospital's COO, Mason VanHouweling, as interim CEO.

34. Joseph Sluka, MBA, began his new role as president and CEO of Bend, Ore.-based St. Charles Health System. Mr. Sluka's appointment was announced in September.

35. Brandon Clary, CEO of Edgefield (S.C.) Hospital, resigned.

36. Earl Tamar, MHA, CEO of Galesburg, Ill.-based Cottage Hospital, resigned.

37. Toni R. Ardabell was promoted to CEO of Bon Secours Richmond (Va.) Health System, effective Jan. 1.

38. Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington, Ohio, appointed Greg Nielson, MHA, as CEO.

39. Battle Creek, Mich.-based Summit Pointe CEO Erv Brinker was placed on paid administrative leave as part of an ongoing review, which is investigating alleged compliance issues, financial irregularities and potential conflicts of interest.

40. Clearwater, Fla.-based BayCare Health System President and CEO Steve Mason, MHA, announced he will retire in mid-2016. Tommy Inzina, MBA, CPA, BayCare's COO, was named Mr. Mason's successor.

41. Naples, Fla.-based Physicians Regional Healthcare System CEO Scott Campbell resigned.

42. Tacoma, Wash.-based CHI Franciscan Health appointed Ketul J. Patel, MHA, MBA, as CEO of the system and senior vice president of divisional operations for the Pacific Northwest Region of Englewood, Colo.-based Catholic Health Initiatives.

43. Mark E. Doyle, MBA, was named administrator and CEO of Memorial Hospital Pembroke in Pembroke Pines, Fla., part of Hollywood, Fla.-based Memorial Healthcare System.

44. Lawrence Barnard, CEO of University Medical Center in Las Vegas, resigned to become president of San Francisco-based Dignity Health's San Martin Hospital, also in Las Vegas.

45. Derek Vance, MHA, was appointed CEO of LewisGale Hospital Pulaski (Va.).

46. Joseph Webb, PhD, was selected to serve as CEO of Nashville (Tenn.) General Hospital at Meharry.

47. After serving as interim CEO of Riverside County Regional Medical Center in Moreno, Calif., for about a year, Lowell Johnson stepped down and Zareh Sarrafian entered the role.

48. Kim Milstien, MBA, resigned from her role as president and CEO of Simi Valley (Calif.) Hospital, part of Roseville, Calif.-based Adventist Health System.
