Ohio State names successor to Dr. Steven Gabbe as CEO of Wexner Medical Center

Ohio State University has named Sheldon Retchin, MD, MSPH, executive vice president of health sciences and CEO of Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, effective March 2, 2015.

Dr. Retchin comes from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, where he currently serves as senior vice president of health sciences and CEO of the VCU Health System in Richmond, Va., positions he has held since 2003.

In addition to his executive roles, Dr. Retchin is a practicing board-certified internist with qualifications in geriatric medicine. He also holds the Ruth and Seymour Perlin Professorship of Medicine and Health Administration.

Dr. Retchin will succeed Steven Gabbe, MD, who is retiring. Dr. Gabbe will continue in his current role until Dr. Retchin arrives in March.
