Mr. VanHouweling’s appointment was decided days after Lawrence Barnard, UMC’s CEO, announced his resignation to become president of San Francisco-based Dignity Health’s San Martin Hospital in Nevada.
Mr. VanHouweling has served as the hospital’s COO since April and previously held the same title at two other Southern Nevada hospitals.
