Nursing director skis to Utah hospital to avoid missing work

Sue Childress, director of nursing at Salt Lake City-based Huntsman Cancer Institute, skied to the hospital Feb. 6 to avoid missing work after a snowstorm, Q13 FOX News reports.

"I came out about 6:30 thinking I could drive, and it [her car] was already covered in snow," Ms. Childress said. "I always thought about skiing into work, and so I just said, this is the day to do it."

She put on her skis and made the 2-mile trek to the hospital. Ms. Childress felt it was her duty to come into work as a nurse whose patients depend on her for care.

"This hospital runs 24/7," she said. "I wanted to get in in time to make sure my nurses were doing OK."
