Amazon’s top 10 healthcare moves in ’24

Amazon continued its healthcare push in 2024 even as some of its fellow disruptors backed off.

Here are the tech giant’s 10 biggest healthcare moves of 2024, as reported by Becker’s:

1. Amazon’s One Medical partnered with Cleveland Clinic in October.

2. Amazon Pharmacy grew same-day delivery to at least a dozen more cities in 2024, with plans to expand to 20 additional cities in 2025.

3. Amazon launched new telehealth options for Prime members in November that display the prices upfront, integrating Amazon One Medical Pay-per-visit with Amazon Pharmacy.

4. Amazon Pharmacy expanded RxPass, an Amazon Prime member benefit that offers medications for $5 a month, in June to Medicare beneficiaries.

5. Amazon collaborated with Charlotte, N.C.-based Advocate Health, Somerville, Mass.-based Mass General Brigham and New York City-based Mount Sinai Health System to investigate how artificial intelligence can improve patient experiences and outcomes.

6. Amazon laid off a few hundred healthcare employees in February.

7. Amazon brought its “just-walk-out” retail markets to three health systems.

8. Amazon Clinic virtual care rebranded to Amazon One Medical Pay-per-visit in June.

9. Amazon sought staffers with Epic EHR experience.

10. Amazon incorporated generative AI into One Medical and Amazon Pharmacy.
