26 latest hospital, health system executive moves

The following hospital and health system executive moves were reported by Becker's Hospital Review in the last week. They are listed below, beginning with the most recent.

1. Minneapolis-based Fairview Health Services named James Hereford president and CEO.

2. The Southern Coos Health District's board of directors terminated Jim Wathen as interim CEO of Bandon, Ore.-based Southern Coos Hospital and Health Center after only two and a half months.

3. Moses Lake, Wash.-based Samaritan Healthcare appointed Chris Neff COO.

4. Walla Walla (Wash.) General Hospital, a part of Roseville, Calif.-based Adventist Health, named Rick Bockmann president and CEO, effective Dec. 12.

5. New York City-based NYC Health + Hospitals appointed Rosa M. Colon-Kolacko, PhD, as senior vice president and chief people officer.

6. Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth (Mass.) CEO Peter Holden resigned.

7. Saint Francis Hospital-Memphis (Tenn.) appointed Samuel Pieh COO.

8. Highland District Hospital in Hillsboro, Ohio, appointed Karen Shadowens vice president of finance and CFO.

9. Brattleboro (Vt.) Memorial Hospital named Jonathan Farina chief compliance and security officer.

10. Sanford Worthington (Minn.) Medical Center CEO Mike Hammer announced his departure.

11. York (Neb.) General CEO Charles Schulz is retiring.

12. Val Aubourg, responsible for preventing fraud and ensuring regulatory compliance at Broward Health in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., resigned Oct. 19, marking the third person to vacate the position within a year.

13. Evansville, Ind.-based Deaconess Health System President and CEO Linda E. White plans to retire, effective June 30, 2017.

14. St. Louis-based Ascension appointed Gerry Lewis senior vice president and CIO as well as CEO of Ascension Information Services.

15. Richmond-based HCA Virginia selected Crystal Farmer, BSN, MSN, to serve as CNO of Parham Doctors' Hospital, also in Richmond.

16. Chillicothe, Ohio-based Adena Health System CEO Mark Shuter is stepping down, after contract negotiations with Adena's board of trustees fell through.

17. Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Spectrum Health tapped Andrea Leslie, RN, to serve as president of Spectrum Health United Hospital in Greenville, Mich., and Spectrum Health Kelsey Hospital in Lakeview, Mich.

18. College Station (Texas) Medical Center named America Farrell CEO.

19. Silver Cross Hospital in New Lennox, Ill., announced its President and CEO Paul Pawlak will retire in October 2017.

20. St. Joseph Mercy Livingston in Howell, Mich., appointed Sharon Blanche CNO.

21. Prairie du Sac, Wis.-based Sauk Prairie Healthcare CEO Larry Schroeder plans to retire in January 2017.

22. OSF Saint Anthony's Health Center in Alton, Ill., tapped Dennis Sands, MD, to serve as vice president and CMO.

23. Lubbock-based Texas Tech University System appointed Gary Barnes vice chancellor and CFO, effective Dec. 1.

24. Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Ronceverte, W.Va., named Tom Neal, RN, CEO, effective Dec. 5.

25. Piedmont Henry Hospital in Stockbridge, Ga., promoted Deborah Armstrong to CEO and appointed James Atkins COO.

26. Richmond-based Hospital Corporation of America Virginia named Brian Baumgardner CEO of LewisGale Regional Health System in Salem, Va., effective Nov. 14.
