The executive responsible for preventing fraud and ensuring regulatory compliance at Broward Health in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., resigned Oct. 19, marking the third person to vacate the position within a year, reports Sun Sentinel.

Former chief compliance officer Val Aubourg said he is leaving Broward Health to join the general counsel’s office at FloridaInternationalUniversity medical school. Mr. Aubourg said his resignation had nothing to do with the organization’s current legal troubles, which include federal and state investigations as well as concerns it might fail to submit its annual audit on time.

Mr. Aubourg’s predecessor, Donna Lewis, left earlier this year after reportedly clashing with Broward Health officials. Previous compliance officer Mike Pelaez alleges he was fired in December 2015 in retaliation for unveiling a kickback scheme to Broward Health’s then-CEO.
