Minneapolis-based Fairview Health Services named James Hereford president and CEO, according to a Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal report.

1. Mr. Hereford will assume his new role Dec. 12.
2. He is currently the COO at Palo Alto, Calif.-based Stanford Health.
3. Prior to that, he was COO at Palo Alto Medical Foundation, a nonprofit research group.
4. Mr. Hereford replaces David Murphy, who has served as interim CEO for around a year and a half.
"As one of the most comprehensive, integrated health systems in the country with strong academic and community partners, Fairview is well positioned for the future and I look for to being part of such a passionate and dedicated team in driving a healthier future for all those we serve," said Mr. Hereford in a statement, according to a report.
