12 latest hospital, health system executive retirements

Becker's Hospital Review reported on the following hospital and health system executive retirements in the last four weeks. They are listed below, beginning with the most recent.

1. Russ Collier, CEO of Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center-Marshall (Texas), retired, effective Jan. 31.

2. Eric Crowell, president and CEO of UnityPoint Health-Des Moines (Iowa), is retiring, effective July 1.

3. Olathe (Kan.) Health System President and CEO Frank H. Devocelle is retiring, effective Dec. 31.

4. Tyler, Texas-based East Texas Medical Center Regional Healthcare System President and CEO Elmer G. Ellis plans to retire, effective Feb. 28.

5. Mesquite, Nev.-based Mesa View Hospital CEO Patty Holden is retiring, effective Feb. 15.

6. Bart Hove, the former CEO of Kingsport, Tenn.-based Wellmont Health System who was slated to serve as CEO of the merged Ballad Health organization, unexpectedly retired Feb. 1.

7. Iowa City-based University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics CEO Kenneth P. Kates is retiring, effective in the summer, ending a 10-year tenure.

8. Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego President and CEO Donald Kearns, MD, announced plans to retire.

9. Thomas Kmetz, president of Louisville, Ky.-based Norton Children's Hospital, retired Jan. 31.

10. Bill Lawrence, president and CEO of McLaren Central Michigan in Mt. Pleasant, is retiring in April.

11. Rochester, N.H.-based Frisbie Memorial Hospital President and CEO John Marzinzik retired Feb. 5.

12. Jim Raggio, CEO of Lompoc (Calif.) Valley Medical Center, is retiring after serving 20 years at the helm of the hospital.
