Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center-Marshall CEO retires

Russ Collier, CEO of Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center-Marshall (Texas), is retiring, effective Jan. 31, according to a Longview News-Journal report.

Mr. Collier joined what was then known as Good Shepherd Medical Center in 1990. He worked his way up to CFO and became CEO in 2000. Prior to joining GSMC, he worked as CFO of medical company NuMed, his first foray into healthcare. He began his career in the regional accounting office of J.C. Penney in Dallas.

During his tenure, Mr. Collier has helped the hospital weather numerous financial challenges, including a period of emergency room claims denial.
