22 latest hospital, health system executive moves

The following hospital and health system executive moves were reported by Becker's Hospital Review in the last week. They are listed below, beginning with the most recent.

1. Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, S.C., named Bradley S. Talbert CEO.

2. Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Health System named Jaewon Ryu, MD, executive vice president and CMO.

3. John Gorski, president and CEO of Munster, Ind.-based Community Healthcare System, will retire July 9.

4. Dima Didenko was named vice president and CFO of the Florida Hospital West Florida Region, which is comprised of 22 campuses and part of Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based Adventist Health System.

5. Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, Va., made various personnel changes for the second quarter of 2016. Jonathan L. Gleason, MD, was appointed medical director of risk management. Martin Misicko, PhD, joined Carilion Clinic in April as vice president of facilities. Paul Skolnik, MD, joined Carilion Clinic and Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine in May as chairman of the department of medicine. William "Bill" Wasserman joined Carilion Clinic in May as vice president of psychiatry.

6. Nicole Thomas will become the first female hospital president of Jacksonville, Fla.-based Baptist Health. She will replace Ron Robinson, who is retiring as president of 269-bed Baptist Medical Center South in Jacksonville, Baptist Health's second-largest hospital.

7. Albert Wright Jr., PharmD, was named president and CEO of Morgantown-based WVU Medicine-West Virginia University Health System, effective Sept. 1.

8. Alan Vierling, DNP, MSN, BSN, RN, was named executive vice president and administrator of Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital in Houston.

9. Thomas Chapman, EdD, president and CEO of Washington, D.C.-based HSC Health Care System, will retire from his position, effective April 30, 2017.

10. BayCare, a health system based in Clearwater, Fla., made new leadership appointments for BayCare Medical Group and St. Petersburg, Fla.-based St. Anthony's Hospital. Bill Ulbricht, president of St. Anthony's Hospital, was named chief administrative officer for BayCare Medical Group, the largest multi-specialty physician group in the greater Tampa Bay area. Andrew Fink, MD, director of physician services at Morton Plant North Bay Hospital in New Port Richey, Fla., was named CMO for BayCare Medical Group. Scott Smith, president of St. Joseph's Hospital-South in Riverview, Fla., was tapped to lead St. Anthony's Hospital as president.

11. Boca Raton, Fla.-based Cancer Treatment Centers of America named Raj Garg, MD, president and CEO, effective June 20.

12. Rockdale Medical Center in Conyers, Ga., named Alan George CEO, effective July 11.

13. Andrew W. Gurman, MD, an orthopedic hand surgeon from Hollidaysburg, Pa., was sworn in June 14 as the 171th president of the American Medical Association.

14. Antonio Bianco, MD, PhD, was appointed president of Rush University Medical Group and vice dean of clinical affairs for Rush Medical College. Both entities are based in Chicago.

15. University of Virginia Medical Center, based in Charlottesville, named William "Bill" Fulkerson COO, effective Aug. 1.

16. Robert Prichard, MD, was named president and CEO of Cincinnati-based St. Elizabeth Physicians.

17. Van Wert (Ohio) County Hospital named James "Jim" Pope president and CEO, effective July 1.

18. Guthrie, a hospital system based in Sayre, Pa., welcomed Catherine "Kate" Mohr, DNP, MSN, BSN, RN, as its new system-wide CNO.

19. Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago appointed Grant Stirling, PhD, as executive vice president and chief development officer of its foundation, effective Aug. 1. 

20. Greensboro, N.C.-based Cone Health named Kenneth Rempher, PhD, MSN, BSN, RN, executive vice president and chief nurse executive, effective Aug. 22.

21. Memorial Community Hospital & Health System in Blair, Neb., named Tim Plante, MSN, BSN, RN, president and CEO.

22. After a more than 45-year career in healthcare administration and leadership, Conrad W. Schintz, a longtime executive at Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Health System, plans to retire June 30. Since 2005, Mr. Schintz has served as Geisinger's vice president for community relationships. He previously held various other positions at Geisinger, including senior vice president of the Geisinger Eastern Region — which includes Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., numerous physician office locations in an eight-county area and the Marworth Alcohol and Chemical Dependency Treatment Center in Waverly, Pa.
