1. Ashland Community Hospital Finalizes Management Agreement With Asante
Ashland (Ore.) Community Hospital finalized an agreement in which Medford, Ore.-based Asante will take over its management beginning today.
2. Cone Health, Alamance Regional Expect FTC Merger Approval
The pending merger between Greensboro, N.C.-based Cone Health and Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington, N.C., is all but official now, as the Federal Trade Commission is expected to finalize the deal.
3. Covenant Health Interested in Operating Tennessee’s Claiborne County Hospital
Executives at Knoxville, Tenn.-based Covenant Health sent a letter to the board of Claiborne County Hospital in Tazewell, Tenn., as well as the Claiborne County Commission, to express interest in running the 85-bed county-owned hospital.
4. Partners HealthCare, South Shore Hospital Affiliation Plan Mostly Praised by Public
Public hearing attendees showed up in force to support the proposed affiliation of Weymouth, Mass.-based South Shore Hospital and Boston-based non-profit chain Partners HealthCare.
5. Landmark Medical Center Nurses Union in Rhode Island Eyes New Buyer
While Woonsock, R.I.-based Landmark Medical Center’s proposed buyer, Prime Healthcare Services, undergoes a federal investigation into its Medicare billing practices, the union representing the hospital’s staff reached a new potential buyout agreement with Hudson (N.J.) Holdco, a for-profit entity that has acquired and turned around three failing New Jersey community hospitals.
6. Canton-Potsdam, E.J. Noble Hospitals in New York Pen Management Agreement
Potsdam, N.Y.-based Canton-Potsdam Hospital and Gouverneur, N.Y.-based E.J. Noble Hospital finalized a management agreement under which CPH Vice President Marlinda LaValley will be named administrator at E.J. Noble.
7. St. Bernard Parish Hospital in Louisiana to Operate Independently
After months of unstable management, St. Bernard Parish Hospital in Chalmette, La., will operate on its own and no longer require a third-party manager.
8. LifePoint, Fauquier Health in Virginia to Form Joint Venture
Executives at Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Hospitals and Fauquier Health in Warrenton, Va., signed a memorandum of understanding to form a joint venture, as LifePoint continues an active hand in the hospital merger and acquisition market.
9. Scott County Explores Partnership With Pioneer Health Services
New negotiations to purchase Scott County Hospital in Oneida, Tenn., began with a letter of intent to partner with Magee, Miss.-based Pioneer Health Services being circulated between the organizations’ leaders.
10. LifePoint Eyes Purchase of Bell Hospital in Michigan
The board of directors for Bell Hospital, located in Ishpeming, Mich., signed a letter of intent to be acquired by Brentwood, Tenn.-based for-profit chain LifePoint Hospitals.
11. St. Joseph Health System Buys Bellville General Hospital in Texas
Bryan, Texas-based St. Joseph Health System acquired 32-bed Bellville (Texas) General Hospital.
12. SSM Health Care Acquires Audrain Medical Center in Missouri
St. Louis-based SSM Health Care is the new owner and operator of Audrain Medical Center, an 88-bed hospital based in Mexico, Mo.
13. Barnwell Hospital in SC Signs Asset Purchase Agreement With Georgia Firm
Barnwell (S.C.) Hospital board members signed an asset purchase agreement with Atlanta-based firm Resurgence Management Company.
14. Physician May Buy South Mississippi County Regional Medical Center in Arkansas
An unnamed, “out-of-town” physician expressed interest in purchasing the 25-bed South Mississippi County Regional Medical Center in Osceola, Ark.
15. Atlantic Health in Talks to Buy Saint Clare’s System in New Jersey
Morristown, N.J.-based Atlantic Health System is in talks to acquire three-hospital Saint Clare’s Health System, which is based in Denville, N.J., and is currently part of Englewood, Colo.-based Catholic Health Initiatives.
